Compounding Lab

One third of our pharmacy space is devoted to our compounding lab, where we make custom medications to meet the special needs of our patients. We have invested in specialized equipment, chemical inventory, and on-going training for our staff to ensure that our patients receive the best solution to their perplexing medication problems. Input from the physician, patient, and pharmacist helps us to craft the best solution for a patient’s needs.

Why do we compound medications? Sometimes, a patient needs a different dosage form, such as a suppository because he or she is unable to swallow a capsule. Or, maybe a patient is allergic to dyes or fillers in commercially made medications. Sometimes, a different strength of medication is needed for young children or elderly patients; one that is unavailable commercially. We can flavor medications to make them more acceptable to young children. We can even help your pet to take his or her medication, by making a topical cream or flavored treat.

There are many more reasons to compound medications. What unique situation can we help you with?

Specialized Packaging

We offer bubble packing or Mediset packaging for special needs or elderly patients. Bubble packing enables the dispensing of just one dose of one drug at a time, while Medisets dispense several medications at a time (for example, one dose of several different medications to be given at noon). This enables caregivers to make sure that the right dose is taken at the right time. If your parent or loved one needs extra help with their medications, this might allow them to stay in their own home, without the worry of missed doses or double doses of medication.
